Known creatively on Instagram as @linasthobe, Lina Barkawi is an avid Tatreez practitioner who completed her first handmade thobe in preparation for her Katib Kitaab in the fall of 2022. She's passionate about making Tatreez accessible to both those who practice and those who don't, elevating the work of tatreez artists, and fostering community. Additionally, she has conducted extensive research on the subject of Tatreez during her pursuit of a Master of Arts Degree and hopes to see more narratives around Tatreez from the voices of Palestinians themselves.

Professionally, Lina Barkawi is currently working on the development of new products and services aimed at solving social and economic problems on a global scale at Mastercard. She holds an MBA with a focus on technology from NYU, an MA in Near Eastern Studies from NYU, and BS in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech.
